Professional Life

Cate is a counsellor in private practice, where she provides counselling for individuals and couples.  Cate has 12 years’ experience working with the chronically and terminally ill and their families, as well as the bereaved and suicide bereaved.

Her therapeutic approach is person-centred and is informed by therapies such as narrative, existential, emotion-focused, expressive therapies and dignity therapy.

Supervision Background

Cate completed the Supervision WA Advanced Training Course in Supervision in 2015 and has assisted in subsequent trainings and presents sessions as a guest lecturer.

Cate has provided supervision for support staff and allied health professionals in not-for-profit organisations and has developed and presented on topics such as Supporting the Bereaved, Suicide Bereavement, Grief and Loss of the Health Professional, Burnout/Compassion Fatigue and Self-Care to various organisations (Notre Dame University, Funeral Celebrants Association, Brightwater Group, Anglicare, MSWA, MND Association).

Cate currently provides individual supervision for counsellors and allied health professionals as well as group supervision for Lifeline WA; delivering a mix of sessions online, phone and face-to-face.

Cate is an Advanced Level Graduate of the Supervision WA training course. She completed her initial course in 2015 and has assisted in subsequent trainings and presents sessions as a guest lecturer.
