Professional Life

Cate is a counsellor in private practice, providing counselling to individuals and couples. Cate has 17 years’ experience working with the chronically and terminally ill and their families, as well as the bereaved and suicide bereaved. Her therapeutic approach is person-centred and informed by therapies such as narrative, existential, emotion-focused, expressive, and dignity therapies.

Supervision Background

Cate has provided supervision for support staff and allied health professionals in not-for-profit organisations and has developed and presented on topics such as Supporting the Bereaved, Suicide Bereavement, Grief and Loss for the Health Professional, Burnout/Compassion Fatigue and Self-Care to various organisations (Notre Dame University, Funeral Celebrants Association, Brightwater Group, Anglicare, MSWA, MND Association, & LifelineWA).

Cate currently provides interprofessional reflective supervision for counsellors, health professionals, pastoral care, disability, palliative care, and bereavement sectors. In addition, Cate provides creative and expressive therapies supervision and supervision of supervision, delivering a mix of sessions online, by phone and face-to-face.

Cate is an Advanced Level Graduate of the Supervision WA training course. She completed her initial course in 2015, then assisted in subsequent trainings, and now presents sessions as a guest lecturer.
